Melons are proving more popular than ever with Tesco shoppers this summer, with sales of several varieties seeing strong year-on-year growth as customers look for refreshing and exotic fruits during the warmer months.
Tesco has seen some of the busiest weeks ever for melon sales in the past few months, and to meet growing demand, Tesco has expanded its offering with Waikiki Melons, now available in around 500 large Tesco stores and online.
Customers can pick up a Whole Waikiki Melon for £3 with Clubcard, (£4 without), and packaged Waikiki Melon (450g) for £3.25.
Sales highlights:
- Over the past seven weeks, sales volume across melons overall has been up 33%
- Sales of Giant watermelons are up 77% for the season so far (May-September) compared to last year

“Melons continue to be a popular choice because they’re naturally sweet, versatile and great value, with sales so far this summer up over 30%. Our Waikiki Melons also offer shoppers something a little different and are a fantastic addition to our fruit range.”
