Norwich University of the Arts has leapt a remarkable 24 places in the 2027 Guardian University Guide, rising to 42nd and securing its place in the top 45 of a major UK national league table for the very first time.
The news reinforces the University’s growing national profile and its position as the UK’s leading creative arts university outside London. It also highlights the vital role specialist creative universities play within UK higher education.
It follows on from the announcement of a high-profile partnership with the Royal College of Art (RCA), which will see students starting an undergraduate degree at Norwich from September 2027 graduate with a degree jointly awarded by the two institutions.
Reflecting on the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ben Stopher said:
“This is a historic moment for Norwich University of the Arts. To have risen so significantly in the Guardian’s rankings, in just a year, is testament to our commitment to our students, the strength of our academic community, and the transformative potential of creative education.
“The results reinforce our triple gold TEF rating, as well as other recent awards of which we’re incredibly proud. These include our 5-star QS Stars Excellence rating for Teaching and being recognised directly by our students in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards, where we were named the UK’s highest-ranked specialist creative arts university.”
The Guardian’s university guide assesses institutions using the key metrics of student satisfaction with courses, teaching and feedback (based on National Student Survey data), as well as student-staff ratio, spend per student, average entry tariff, continuation rate and graduate career success.
Norwich made its debut in the main guide last year. Since then, alongside its historic agreement with the RCA, the University has celebrated a host of major milestones.
